• Dog Sled Team at Snow Day Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department Program Highlights - January Park Board Update SPECIAL EVENTS Snow Day - Snow Day was held on Saturday, January 26 at Wargo Nature Center. Despite the 40+ degree temperature and severe lack of snow, almost 170 people showed up to participate in this year's event. We were able to offer almost all of our originally planned activities. The only activity we could not offer was cross - country skiing. YOUTH PROGRAMS Youth Instructional - Our winter session youth instructional programs are off to a good start. Many of our classes reached their capacity this season. We anticipate promoting programs such as Martial Arts even more to ensure additional growth. WAFD Trips - Our one and only ski trip of the season took place on Friday, January 25. Twenty -two •youth participated in this trip. Our ski trip attendance numbers have been dropping over the years. We are debating whether or not to continue offering them in the future. ADULT PROGRAMS 5- Player Basketball - Twelve teams are currently participating in this program - which is now in mid - season. This is the maximum number of teams allowed due to a location change from a court at the White Building to a smaller court at the Red Building. OPEN GYM PROGRAMS Our open gym programs, Open Basketball, Open Volleyball and Family Open Gym, are operating smoothly. Weekly attendance in these programs has been steady. WARMINGHOUSES The shelters are suffering through this unseasonably warm winter. At one point during the season all shelters were closed for almost a week due to the above freezing temperatures. When open, attendance at the shelters has been good. ACTIVITIES GUIDE We are currently working on our Spring Activities Guide which is scheduled to be out in homes the last week of February.
