'boat blowing contest
at "Olympic Dayo ,aat the
Birch Park Playgrot
Lino Lakes Parks and
Recreation
Department Program
Highlights -
July Park Board
Update
Youth
Summer Playground Program: 278 participants registered for the Summer Playground Program this year - our
highest registration total ever! Thirty -five children took advantage of our daily visit fee - one of our smallest ever
(we've been slowly trying to steer people away from the daily visit option). The playground program will
conclude on July 31 with a finale party at Sunrise Park that will feature games, face painting, a fish pond, our
Giant Bounce, popcorn, freezies, Kool -Aid and a special performance by Cheryl Sawyer, Finnish Storyteller with
Magic! Attached is an attendance summary from the past few years of the playground program showing the
growths and declines of the various sites.
Options: Fifty -seven participants officially registered for the Options program this summer. The program has
been going very smoothly. The program will conclude on August 22.
B: Our CLUB outings this summer have been going well for the most part. Our "Wet and Wild Water Park
entures" have been a big hit - over 30 children have participated in each trip. Our "Beach Blast Fridays ",
however, have all been canceled due to low registration numbers. We are discussing the possibility of offering
just water park trips next summer and no beach trips.
Day Camps: Our day camps (with Anoka County and Blaine Parks and Recreation Departments) begin on
August 4. Currently, we have 28 participants enrolled in the Sensational Summer High Adventures Camp for
grades 5 -7 and 33 participants enrolled in the Sensational SummerAdventures Camp for grades 1 -4. Each
camp runs for four days and each day includes a field trip.
Fall Soccer and Football: Registration is relatively complete for fall soccer and football. Soccer registration is at
460 participants with U12 being the smallest division - which could be a result of more fall traveling teams
through the soccer associations. Football registration is at 305
participants - very comparable to last year's registration total.
Adult
Softball: The summer season concluded the end of July and the fall season
is just around the corner. Currently, 27 teams are currently registered for
the fall league.
Miscellaneous
creation Review: We are currently working on the fall edition of the
reation Review. It is scheduled to be in homes the last week of August.
Questions? Please contact Liz Bursack or Barry Bernstein at 651- 982 -2440.
Tie -dyed shirts - a popular
playgror rogram activity.
