• <br />• <br />• <br />COUNCIL MINUTES MARCH 27, 2000 <br />secretary position has been revisited. The City is also responding to requests generated by the City's <br />internal posting. Based on these sources, staff is confident that a qualified applicant can be found. <br />Staff is proposing to conduct interview on March 30 and 31, 2000. The next regularly scheduled <br />Council meeting is April 10, 2000. Therefore, staff is requesting permission to extend a conditional <br />offer of employment as soon as the administrative hiring process is completed. This would save the <br />City almost a month, based on a two -(2) week notice to any current employer. <br />Council Member Carlson moved to allow staff to extend a conditional offer of employment for the <br />receptionist position prior to the next Council meeting. Council Member Dahl seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />FIRST READING, Ordinance No. 00 — 05, Grant City Administrator/Designee Authority to <br />Investigate the Background of New Employees (3/5 Vote Required), Dan Tesch — Staff advised <br />that in order to the Police Department to conduct a criminal background investigation of job <br />applicants on the City's behalf, an ordinance is required. Staff referred to the ordinance, which will <br />amend the personnel section of the City code. <br />Council Member O'Donnell moved to approve the FIRST RE • i .r ance No. 00 — 05, as <br />presented. Council Member Dahl seconded the motion. <br />Council Member Carlson voted yea. Council Me yea. Council Member O'Donnell <br />voted yea. Council Member Reinert voted yea. ' yor i geson voted yea. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Consider Resolution No. 00 <br />April 8, 2000 (3/5 Vote Re <br />allowed under the Sta :. am <br />conduct fewer that fou <br />ove xempt Permit for Lawful Gambling, St. Joseph, <br />Chel Gaustad — Staff advised non - profit organizations are <br />Statutes to apply for an exemption from a gambling license if they <br />ng occasions per year. <br />The Lino Lakes Lions C is requesting to hold a raffle and tipboards at a fundraising spaghetti <br />dinner being held at St. Joseph Church on Saturday, April 8, 2000, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. <br />Mayor Bergeson noted there are a couple Council Members that are members of the Lions Club. He <br />asked if there is a conflict of interest relating to the vote on this item. <br />The City Attorney advised all Council Members could vote on this item because there is no direct <br />financial interest in the action. <br />Council Member Dahl moved to adopt Resolution No. 00 — 37, as presented. Council Member <br />Carlson seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Resolution No. 00 — 37 can be found at the end of these minutes. <br />
