• <br />• <br />CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION APRIL 5, 2000 <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />MINUTES <br />DATE : April 5, 2000 <br />TIME STARTED : 5:00 p.m. <br />TIME ENDED : 8:05 p.m. <br />MEMBERS PRESENT : Council Member Carlson, Dahl, O'Donnell, <br />Reinert, and Mayor Bergeson <br />MEMBERS ABSENT : None <br />Staff members present: City Administrator, Linda Waite Smith; City Engineer, John <br />Powell; City Planner, Jeff Smyser; Economic Development Assistant, Mary Alice Divine <br />(part); and Chief of Police, Dave Pecchia (part) <br />PUBLIC SAFETY REVIEW, DAVID PECCHIA/CITY COU <br />Public Safety Director, Dave Pecchia, reviewed with the <br />mission, goals and activities. <br />Chief Pecchia stated that as a director, he wo ( ap.a, iat e following input from the <br />City Council: <br />1. <br />2. <br />Review th ..' ss statement. <br />e Comprehensive Plan. <br />3. o rm goals for the City and his department. <br />4. ong term goals for the City and his department. <br />Chief Pecchia explained that when critical incidents occur, a press release is prepared for <br />staff. Council Members are likely to receive calls. The same press release could be faxed <br />to each Council Member. For high profile incidents, such as homicide, he indicated he <br />would probably call each Council Member individually. <br />Council Member O'Donnell suggested that the Public Safety Department efforts, on <br />behalf of youth, should be reflected in the department's mission statement. <br />Chief Pecchia explained the concept of community policing and the neighborhood watch <br />programs. <br />
