• results of the voting were shared (see paragraph 2). Why weren't the two tied proposals
placed on the table during the Monday meeting to be discussed and then to be voted on?
•
fi esS
(te-
14 \Z) *
6
te"" • Consider picnic tables instead of benches.
Mr. beGardner has set up a meeting with the Game Time vendor for Wednesday, March 22
at 3:30 p.m. This is short notice for all of us and not a good time of the day. However, I
hope a good number of people from the neighborhood can come and give their input.
Hopefully, we can change the plans to be safer and have a variety of components for kids of
all ages available.
I have obtained a couple of Game Time vendor catalogs and have them available if you are
interested in looking at them. By the way, the 5 original playground proposals can still be
viewed. They are at the Parks and Recreation dept at City Hall. Just ask the receptionist to
bring them out.
Below are some recommendations:
• Consider having one structure, which is safe for all ages. It will be difficult to keep
younger children ages 3 -5 off the main structure.
• To satisfy the older children consider components like rings, overhead ladders and a
space shuttle to be incorporated into the main structure. These components can be
reached by children old enough to use them.
•
Consider removing some of the climbing components that require an opening in the
railing system. Some of these are high up. We recommend choosing climbing
components that are safer and lower to the ground to prevent falls from high
places. For example, a mega rock or lily pad link could be used instead.
• Consider putting double slides in place of single slides.
• Consider having some crawling tubes and play panels in the main play structure.
• The present proposal has one Springer toy. Please consider a structure that will
satisfy a multiple of kids such as a Merry -go- round.
• In order to reach out to the teenagers /adults in the neighborhood, please consider
the court basketball court at this time.
•
These are some of the recommendations that I am going to share with the Game Time
vendor and Mr. Oe6ardner at this Wednesday's meeting. I feel with these recommendations
we can design a structure that is safe and appealing for a wide age range. I believe this will
incorporate what was desirable about the Miracle Options and the Game Time options into
one play area. If you are unable to come to the meeting but agree with these
recommendations, please feel free to sign your name/address /phone #. This will give Mr.
OeGardner a good idea of what Brandywood residents desire for their park.
 I A-
