Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department
600 Town Center Parkway
Lino Lakes, MN 55014
(651) 982 -2440 Fax (651) 982 -2439
January 27, 2000
TO: Park Board Members
FROM: Mike Hoffman, Parks Supervisor
SUBJECT: January Park Maintenance Update
Maintenance activities for January have focused primarily on skating rinks and warming houses.
The following activities are performed pretty much on a daily basis at our four hockey rinks:
1. Sweeping the entire ice surface from the center out to the boards.
2. Snowblowing along the boards after sweeping.
3. One more lap around boards with sweeper after blowing to push any missed snow and ice to
the boards.
4. Hand shoveling of boards to remove any remaining snow and ice.
5. Flooding of ice surface with our tanker truck.
Daily maintenance activities on our pleasure skating rinks includes sweeping ice surface
followed by tanker flooding.
In addition after snowfalls we usually have to either blow or snowplow ice surface prior to
sweeping.
Other maintenance activities during January included:
• Repair of hockey goals.
• Equipment maintenance and cleaning.
• Chipping of christmas trees at Birch Park (69) and Sunrise Park (153) for a total of 222 trees.
• Dead or hazard tree removal at various park locations.
• Ordering of maintenance supplies needed for spring and summer. (Fertilizer, seed, ballfield
supplies).
• Assist the Public Works Department after any snowfall. (Plowing roads trails, parking lots,
and cul -de -sacs. Clearing sidewalks, etc.)
Those are the January highlights, more to come in February.
sw /parkbrd/Mike Hoffman Maintenance Update /January 00.doc
