Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department
600 Town Center Parkway
Lino Lakes, MN 55014
(651) 982 -2440 Fax (651) 982 -2439
•
•
December 20, 1999
TO: Park Board Members
FROM: Mike Hoffman, Parks Supervisor
SUBJECT: December Park Maintenance Update
Well here it is, the last maintenance update of the 20th Century. I'll make it short and sweet.
• Flooding of skating rinks - As you might expect skating rinks are way behind schedule. This
of course is due primarily to the unseasonably warm temps we have been experiencing.
Also, adding to the problem is that our tanker truck is currently in the shop getting the tank
patched. This has limited us to hose flooding at those rinks that have a water source. We are
hoping to get our tanker back very soon, but until then, we are limited to hoses. Thankfully
with the recent cold weather we have been able to flood 2 -3 times daily. (Sunrise, Birch,
City Hall, Marshan, Lino and Behm's Parks.)
If the weather cooperates and we get our tanker back, we are hoping to have our rinks with
shelters open on Thursday, December 23.
Other activities during December included:
• Removal of soccer nets from goals.
• Inventory of ballfields — (condition of bases, home plate, pitching rubber, and base pegs.)
Order replacements for 2000.
• Repair of hockey nets and goals
• Clean and prep. warming houses.
• Organized and cleaned up yard at maintenance facility.
• Prep winter equipment. (blowers, brooms, tractors.)
• Playground inspection and repairs.
• Measured all irrigated athletic fields to determine acreage for fertilizer and weed control
needs.
• Removed diseased trees at Sunrise Park
• Assembled bleachers.
Those are the highlights for December. I hope you all have a safe and joyous holiday season.
sw /parkbrd/Mike Hoffman Maintenance Updates /December 99.doc
