CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION JULY 21, 1999 <br />When a project is contracted, the site is turned over to the contractor. The City must be <br />careful to not violate the contract and to take on any liability. A meeting with the <br />contractor is scheduled for tomorrow to assign the responsibility of making residents <br />aware of the project. <br />Council suggested giving residents weekly updates on the project. The Council also <br />suggested that letters be sent to residents and businesses along the Lake Drive corridor <br />where construction is ongoing. <br />Mr. Powell will continue to manage the project and all complaints should be directed to <br />Mr. Powell. <br />Staff noted an article regarding the project and traffic congestion would be in the Quad <br />Press next week. It is also anticipated that Main Street will be restored and open prior to <br />Hay Days in September. <br />DISCUSS CIVIC COMPLEX PLAQUE, MARY ALICE <br />Staff distributed a draft of the inscription to be placed on e� A� u ; r °the Civic <br />Complex. <br />Council noted that all names in the proposed were not listed alphabetically. <br />Staff was directed to order the plaque <br />The grand opening of the Civi <br />guard will raise the flag. <br />COMPREHENS <br />nscription for the Civic Complex. <br />ill se held September 18, 1999. A VFW honor <br />UPDATE, JEFF SMYSER <br />A meeting was hel. e Metropolitan Council to determine if everything needed for <br />the submission of th. omprehensive Plan is completed. At this time, the only piece <br />needed for a complete submission is a determination of how much MUSA the City will <br />request. <br />It was noted that the Council had already agreed to a 1.125% MUSA overage with the <br />stipulation that it is to be allocated between the different types of MUSA. <br />Council Member Lyden distributed the following list of items relating to the <br />Comprehensive Plan: <br />1. No additional MUSA for residential use through 2020. <br />2. Five (5) acre parcels for single family homes will be included in the plan. <br />2 <br />
