• <br />SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING NOVEMBER 18, 1997 <br />begin in July and staff will prepare to bond the project in September. The first payment <br />on this bond will be due in 1999. <br />Council Member Bergeson noted that the Early Childhood Center is proposed to be <br />funded internally. He noted funding will be needed in 1998 for the new City Hall if it is <br />also constructed. <br />Staff was directed to prepare some scenarios addressing the questions and comments <br />made by the Council this evening. This information will be given to the Council as soon <br />as possible and another budget work session will be scheduled before the Truth in <br />Taxation public hearing in December. <br />Staff noted that property owners in the Centennial School District will see a reduction of <br />their property taxes due to an education homestead credit. This credit will not affect the <br />City portion of the property taxes. <br />UPDATE AND DIRECTION FOR CIVIC BUILDING CONSTRUCTION (THE <br />VILLAGE), RANDY SCHUMACHER <br />Staff gave the Council a summary <br />- Senior Center <br />- Common Areas <br />- Administrative Offices <br />- Public Works <br />- Storage <br />TOTAL FOR <br />- Police Departm ding <br />- Park Building <br />TOTAL EXISTING SPACE <br />of the existing civic bui • <br />15866 square feet <br />2233 square feet <br />1672 square feet <br />19,771 SQUARE FEET <br />Staff reminded Council that at the meeting held a week ago Chief Pecchia presented his <br />building needs to Council and Mr. Wessel presented the City Hall and Early Childhood <br />Center buildings needs. <br />Staff is requesting Council direction regarding building space square footage. This <br />information is needed so that the architect can prepare a proposal for all three (3) building <br />which would be constructed at one time. <br />Mr. Schumacher proposed that storage be located in the Early Childhood Center and the <br />three (3) central systems for operation of the three (3) buildings be located in the <br />
