The plan is then <br />presented to the Metropolitan Council and further discussions will follow. The <br />Metropolitan Council is not saying that Lino Lakes has to grow at all. The figures that <br />were given earlier are an attempt by Metropolitan Council to predict what is going to <br />happen. The important point is that Lino Lakes must prepare its own plan and the <br />Metropolitan Council has to fit it into the regional blueprint. <br />Mr. Mike Trehus, a resident of Lino Lakes noted that if the Metropolitan Council allows <br />further suburban sprawl, it only insures the death of the core cities. He suggested that <br />Metropolitan Council limit suburban sprawl by refusing to allow the expansion of the <br />MUSA. <br />Council Member Lyden explained that it appears that the Metropolitan Council does not <br />expect the east metro area to grow significantly. It seemed that there should be more <br />growth there because they have a better transportation system. <br />Mr. Jamie Schapps explained that the Comprehensive Plan Task Force w'll meet on May <br />8, 1997 to discuss development districts three (3) and four (4).
