COUNCIL BUDGET WORK SESSION AUGUST 7, 1997 <br />- Staff car <br />- Laptop computer <br />- Scanner <br />- Human Resources person set -up costs <br />- Office space rental <br />- Calculator <br />Administration is in need of a full -time secretary. Staff is not proposing that another <br />secretary be hired but is proposing to re- organize the duties in the front office so that Ms. <br />Viger would become the full -time administration secretary. <br />Staff explained the need for a Human Resources person. Council directed staff to prepare <br />a job description outlining duties and the qualifications for the position. Council also <br />questioned the need for a full -time person and suggested that a full -time person could be <br />shared by another city. Council also noted that some of the proposed duties appeared to <br />be duties that are currently handled by the City Administrator and the As 'stant to the <br />City Administrator. There was also discussion regarding where to + or this <br />person. <br />Staff noted the need to rent office space since there i <br />Coordinator. Space has been found at the Acto <br />nvironmental <br />he Road. <br />Staff explained that the City has not + 1� M�d red record retention. A $1,100 <br />scanner is proposed for the 199:, .'��.: i ggested that staff determine if a <br />service could be hired to nerfo + fu ion. <br />Staff discussed t <br />Council discusses for employee training and employee travel noting the policy <br />should indicate th.' '' aximum number of hours an employee could spend away from their <br />regular duties for travel and training. This could tie into an employee benefits plan. <br />Staff was requested to research this matter and to develop some job descriptions. <br />Staff asked if employees get comp time after 40 hours.
