SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING AUGUST 11, 1997 • CITY OF LINO LAKES MINUTES • • DATE August 11, 1997 TIME STARTED 6:00 p.m. TIME ENDED 6:25 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT ▪ Council Members Bergeson, Kuether, Lyden and Neal and Mayor Landers MEMBERS ABSENT • None Staff members present: Solid Waste Coordinator, Jackie Constant and Clerk - Treasurer Marilyn Anderson. The purpose of the special meeting was to update the Council regarding the implementation of the Organized Solid Waste ordinance. Ms. Constant explained that she has been meeting with the consult informational materials explaining the Organized Solid Waste scheduled to be placed on the November election ballot. Council discussed various ways to inform the r collection. Ms. Constant noted that she has met with the persons petitioning against the Organized Solid Waste Collection ordinance. She feels that they are misinformed and some of the misinformation is coming from the haulers. Council suggested one of the mailings should respond to the misinformation only. The fall City newsletter could also provide more information to the residents. Staff was directed to place inserts and articles in the Quad Press to provide factual information for the residents. A direct mailing is to be done about a week or so before the November election. Mayor Landers suggested that something be done for Cable TV presentation.
