Peggy Sand met with the new Hugo City Administrator Mike Ericson and Planning
Commissioner Dave Schumann and discussed the need for Hugo to identify an area that could be
used for model subdivision planning. They are talking to some landowners in an area east of
Highway 61 (and west of Oneka Lake) that has various environmental issues and is a possible
site for mixed used development.
Dan Comejo pointed out that by Aug -Sept, Hugo should have a charette consultant on board.
This process is linked to the City needing to adopt some housing goals in order to get some Met
Council Livable Communities funds. The idea was raised to consider looking at a contiguous
area with coordinated development between Lino Lakes and Hugo, e.g. including the Wenzel
Farms property and a possible green strip along Clearwater Creek. Jean Mouelle reinforced the
consistency of this with the project's broader perspective.
Next Steps
By June, the smaller groups working on this project should have developed checklists.
Each group should know what it will be doing for the natural resource inventory and
analysis and by when.
4
