In many respects, the existing park and trail plan was <br />part of <br />the community visioning process that manifested itself in the 20/20 <br />Vision <br />Plan. <br />The plan remains the basic <br />underpinning for the park and trail <br />system and should still be used as the <br />basis for planning future parks and trails. <br />Integrating the Greenway System with the Park and Trail <br />System Plan <br />The Comprehensive Park and Trail Plan and Development Guide for Lino <br />Lakes <br />defines the overall plan for the city's parks and trails and establishes <br />the <br />parameters for its implementation. The plan remains the basic <br />underpinning <br />for the park and trail system and should still be used as the basis for <br />planning <br />future parks and trails. <br />As part of the planning process for this manual, the city -wide park and <br />*trail <br />system plan was overlaid on the greenway system map shown in figure 4.2. <br />This combination illustrates how the linear trail corridors and <br />individual park <br />locations can be effectively intertwined with the natural areas contained <br />within the greenway system. Figure 4.4 illustrates this concept. <br />As shown on the figure, the actual and conceptual location of existing <br />and <br />proposed trails are identified. The trails are broken down into two <br />types, park <br />trails and connector trails. Park trails refer to trails that are located <br />in their own <br />easement, in a greenway corridor outside of a road right -of -way, or in a <br />city/ <br />regional park. Connector trails refer to trails that are typically <br />located in an <br />existing road right -of -way. <br />In the context of this study, the park trails are of greatest concern in <br />that their <br />ultimate location is intrinsically linked to the ultimate extent of the <br />greenway <br />system.
