• <br />• <br />INDIVIDUAL PROJECT TRACKING SHEET <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES ENVIRONMENTAL <br />Agenda Item 7A -1 <br />PROJECT #: 21 -10 Conservation Partners Grant / Buckthorn <br />PROJECT: Grant Application To The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources To Initiate a Buckthorn <br />Eradication Program In the City of Lino lakes. <br />DATE OF ORIGIN: February 28, 2001 <br />TO: Environmental Board Members <br />City of Lino Lakes <br />FROM: Marty Asleson <br />Environmental Coordinator <br />OVERVIEW STATEMENTS: <br />• Buckthorn is a non - native invasive woodland woody plant that removes bio- diversity, is a prolific seeder, and <br />obscures visibility and the aesthetic qualities of our woodlands. <br />•The City of Lino Lakes is currently at the initial stages of buckthorn management in the Clearwater Creek 3rd <br />Addition, and has interest from residents in the Birchwood Acres Subdivision (See map). <br />•Follow -up will be needed in both cases. Working with residents on the follow -up and monitoring would be <br />part of this grant proposal. <br />•This is an excellent opportunity to begin a hands -on environmental education program with expansion to other <br />issues. <br />STAFF COMMENTS/ISSUES FOR CONSIDERATION: <br />• 50 % cost share proposal/ Proposal due March 30, 2001. <br />• 50 % city share would be soft-share (labor, chemicals, volunteers) <br />ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD COMMENTS: The following is a summary of the comments made by the <br />Board: <br />17apxo_& Pexpeazcov_Boap5 Xtzt 00 Aivo Awcea <br />
