Minnesota DNR - Financial Assistance Directory 1999 -2001 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />Eii <br />Comments. <br />CONTENTS <br />Habitat Improvement <br />Environmental <br />Partnerships Grant <br />Program <br />Conservation Partners <br />Grant Program <br />Deer Habitat <br />Improvement Program <br />(DHIP) <br />Eurasian Watermilfoil <br />Management Program <br />Grants for Conservation <br />Biology Research in <br />Minnesota <br />Pheasant Habitat <br />Improvement Program <br />(PHIP) <br />Project CORE <br />(Cooperative <br />Opportunities for <br />Resource Enhancement <br />Program) <br />Roadsides for Wildlife <br />Conservation Partners Grant Program <br />Program Purpose: To encourage the enhancement of fish, wildlife, <br />and native plant habitats and research and surveys of fish and wildlife <br />directly related to specific habitat improvement projects through <br />cooperation by private organizations and local governments. <br />Eligible Projects: Projects fall into two categories: <br />1. Habitat Enhancement - Habitat Enhancement projects include but <br />are not limited to: restoration of natural plant communities, <br />reforestation, protection of wetlands, establishing native plant buffer <br />strips along streams and lakes, protection of water quality, abatement <br />of soil erosion, and other practices consistent with sound wildlife <br />management. <br />2. Research/Surveys - Research/Survey projects include but are not <br />limited to: monitoring environmental indicators; surveying plant and <br />animal populations; evaluating enhancement projects; and researching <br />methods to conserve or enhance fish, wildlife and native plant <br />habitat. These research/survey projects must be directly related to <br />specific habitat improvement projects. Ineligible projects include <br />funding for curricula development, existing organizational staff and <br />program activities, or capital development such as buildings and <br />trails. Project Examples. <br />Who May Apply: Private organizations, counties, cities, townships, <br />and school districts. <br />Priorities: Cooperative efforts among local governments, school <br />districts, and private organizations and creative projects that meet the <br />program purpose. Projects are selected based on regional priorities. <br />Level of Assistance: A maximum of 50% of the total eligible project <br />costs not to exceed a maximum grant of $20,000. The minimum <br />grant amount is $1,000. Costs must be incurred and paid before <br />reimbursement can be made. <br />General Information: Applications are due by March 31.
