• <br />Infiltration Ponds/Basins <br />The rehabilitation of the infiltration ponds would require the excavation of accumulated fine <br />material with light earth- moving equipment and re- planting with native vegetation. Excavation <br />would occur in the following manner: <br />1. Remove the accumulated fine material and topsoil with light earth- moving <br />equipment. <br />2. Excavated material shall be hauled and disposed of off site to prevent the material <br />from re- entering the basin(s). <br />3. Excavate down to the naturally occurring permeable, sandy material. <br />4. Following excavation, re- vegetate the bottom of the basins as specified on the final <br />grading plan. <br />or <br />1. Burn existing vegetation or mow in late fall with a rotary or sickle -style mower <br />2. Aerate affected sediment basin with an Aerway ground- driven, rolling- tined <br />aerator /cultivator. Minimum of two replications (passes). Minimum of 3.5" tine <br />penetration into the soil. <br />If the infiltration practices are designed properly, are constructed as specified and protected <br />from erosion (buffers, vegetation, etc.) the basins could very well be maintenance free in the <br />long run. In the worst case, the timing of the regularly scheduled maintenance should not be <br />• different than any similarly designed swale, ditch or NURP pond in the city. The long term <br />maintenance shall be taken over by the city or the homeowner's association when the project <br />improvements are accepted by the city. <br />Page 5 <br />
