• 3.05 MAINTENANCE A. Contractor maintenance period for all seeded areas shall be for one month from Date of Substantial Completion. B. The Contractor shall supply all the necessary equipment, materials and labor for proper maintenance each type of turf. C. Maintenance for Turf Grass Areas (Type I): 1. Mow grass at regular intervals to maintain at a maximum height of 2% inches Do not cut more than 1/3 of grass blade at any one mowing. 2. Neatly trim edges and hand clip where necessary. 3. Immediately remove clippings after mowing and trimming. 4. Water to prevent grass and soil from drying out. 5. Roll surface to remove minor depressions or irregularities. 6. Control growth of weeds. Apply herbicides in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Remedy damage resulting from improper use of herbicides. 7. Immediately reseed areas which show seed germination and growth that is unacceptable to the Owner. Continue reseeding until satisfactory turf is established. 8. Protect seeded areas with warning signs during maintenance period. D. Maintenance for Natural Grass Areas (Types II, III, and IV): 1. The Contractor shall submit a maintenance plan before final acceptance. The Owner may choose to enter into an agreement with the Contractor for maintenance or may choose to maintain the site itself. 2. The maintenance plan must include specifications and schedule for mowing, burning and herbicide application for three years and a perpetual program thereafter. 3. Each time the prairie grass reaches a height 12 to 16 inches the Contractor shall mow the area to a 4 to 5 inch height with a flail type mower. 4. Water to prevent grass and soil from drying out. 5. The Contractor shall notify the Owner /LA -E when all seeded areas are ready for inspection and final acceptance by the Owner. The Contractor shall provide the Owner with a 48 hour notification to accept maintenance responsibility once final acceptance is approved. 3.06 ACCEPTANCE AND GUARANTEE A. Provisional acceptance: the work shall be considered 90% complete after all seed has been installed and the Contractor has completed all required clean up, removal, and repair as described in 3.03 of this section.
