II
PETERSON
ENVIRONMENTAL
CONSULTING, INC.
December 13, 2000
Mr. Ed Vaughan
1432 Pheasant Hills Drive
Lino Lakes, Minnesota 55038
Subject: Wetland Delineation Report, Pheasant Ridge Island Site
Lino Lakes, Minnesota
PEC Project No. 2000 -087
Dear Ed:
Peterson Environmental Consulting, Inc. (PEC) has completed the delineation of jurisdictional
wetlands on Pheasant Hills Island Site in Lino Lakes, Minnesota. The site is generally located
south of Wards Lake and northeast of the terminal cul -de -sac of Ruffed Grouse Road in the NW
1/4 Sec 27, NE 1/4 Sec 28, T31N R22W, Anoka County, Minnesota (Figure 1). We delineated
two wetlands on the site (Figure 2). The closed polygon designated as Basin A represents non-
jurisdictional upland on the island. The line designated Basin B represents the boundary
between upland (west) and wetland (east) in the proposed island road - access location. The
delineation is preliminary because it was conducted outside the normal growing season. We will
need to verify the boundary in the spring after the start of the growing season (generally after
April 28), however, we do not expect the boundary to change substantially.
METHODOLOGY
Wetlands were delineated in accordance with the methodology set forth in the Corps of
Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual (1987 Manual). It should be noted that the impact of
on- or off -site hydrologic alterations are not be fully accounted for when routine delineation
methods are used. The boundary between the upland and wetland was determined through a
routine analysis of the vegetation, soils and hydrology. Plant species within the wetland/upland
ecotone were catalogued as to their percent cover and wetland indicator status according to the
Daubenmire Cover Scale (Northwest Scientist 33:43 -64; 1959) and the National List of Plant
Species that Occur in Wetlands; North Central Region 3 (USFWS Biological Report
88(26.3); May 1988), respectively. When a plant has not been identified to its specific epithet, a
plant indicator status has not been assigned. Hydrophytic plants are considered predominant
1355 Mendota Heights Road, Suite 100 e Mendota Heights, Minnesota 55120 -1112 s 651- 686 -0151 ■ Fax 651- 686 -036.9 E -mail: Pec1nc@PETERSONENV.com
