Agenda Item 5B
Environmental Board Meeting Date: August 25, 2004
Topic: Parks, Natural Open Space /Greenways and Trail System Plan
Background: Jeff Schoenbauer of Brauer and Associates was commissioned
by the Park Board to update the 1992 Parks, and Trails Plan. The new plan
updates the old plan to reflect the communities desire to preserve the natural
open space values and maintain the 20/20 visions of livability, in spite of
increasing levels of development. Please take some time to review the draft plan
before the next meeting. Jeff Schoenbauer will attend the meeting to go through
the document, answer questions, and take comments.
Analysis: This document takes the old ideas and evolves them into the
progressional conservation methodologies of where we are today. It takes the
Handbook for Conservation Development, Wildland Interface, together with many
of the Conservation Development/and flexibility issues that have been discussed
over the years and lays out processes that can get us to desirable end points.
Options:
1. Recommend Approval
2. Recommend Approval with Comments
3. Recommend Not to Approve
Recommendation: one or two
Attachments:
1. City of Lino Lakes/Draft Parks, Natural Open Space /Greenway and Trail System Plan
