<br />Big River Journey

<br />Big River Journey is a collaborative environmental education program among twelve
<br />organizations that connects school children with the Mississippi River's science and heritage,
<br />and fosters river and watershed stewardship. The partnership engages students in river -
<br />related curriculum over several months, including hands -on exploration, restoration, and
<br />community service projects that provide students with the chance to learn and practice
<br />citizenship in the form of river stewardship.
<br />Project partners include: National Park Service, Center for Global Environmental Education, Fort
<br />Snelling State Park, Friends of the Mississippi River, Historic Fort Snelling- Minnesota Historical
<br />Society, Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge -U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Mississippi
<br />National River Recreation Area, Mississippi River Fund, Padelford Packet Boat Company,
<br />Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Science Museum of Minnesota, and Shakopee
<br />Mdewakanton Sioux (Dakota) Community.
<br />LakeSuperiorStreams.Org and the Regional Stormwater Protection Team

<br />The goal of LakeSuperiorStreams.org and the Regional Stormwater Protection Team is to
<br />protect and enhance the Minnesota North Shore region's shared water resources through
<br />stormwater pollution prevention. The LakeSuperiorStreams project uses a partnership of
<br />regional scientists, managers and educators to enhance public understanding of streams and
<br />their connections to watershed land use by using real -time data and interpretive materials to
<br />illustrate the nature and consequences of degraded stormwater and its real cost to society.
<br />Project partners include: Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, City of Duluth, Minnesota's
<br />Lake Superior Coastal Program, Sea Grant Minnesota, University of Minnesota - Duluth Natural
<br />Resources Research Institute, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and Western Lake Superior
<br />Regional Stormwater Protection Team.
<br />The Eco Experience at the Minnesota State Fair

<br />The Eco Experience is a partnership between the Minnesota State Fair and the Minnesota
<br />Pollution Control Agency, as well as dozens of additional public and private partners, to
<br />create a first -of -its -kind "eco experience" at the Minnesota State Fair. This partnership was
<br />the first in the nation to undertake such a large scale effort to demonstrate how
<br />environmentally friendly practices and choices can keep our water and air clean and preserve
<br />natural resources, as well as support economic development.
