AGENDA ITEM NO. 6C <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Rick De Gardner, Public Services Director <br />DATE: March 8, 1999 <br />TOPIC: Award Bids for Playground Equipment Structures <br />Vote Required: Majority Vote <br />BACKGRO ND: <br />On Friday, February 26, 1999, 10ain bids were opened for the 1999 playground equipment <br />projects. There were 3 companies submitting proposals for two playground sites being upgraded <br />this year. On Monday, March 1 through Friday, March 5, the playground equipment proposals <br />were on display at the Parks and Recreation Building. Neighborhood residents and Park Board <br />Members were invited to review the proposals, make comments, and provide input on the <br />selection of the projects. <br />It is my recommendation to award the following park projects accordingly: <br />Marshan Park <br />Arena Acres Park <br />$27,000 <br />$20,000 <br />It is my opinion that the above vendors offered the City of Lino Lakes the best package of <br />playground equipment for our money. Play equipment evaluations are based on a number of <br />factors including equipment quality, safety considerations, aesthetic appeal, the play experience <br />provided, and installation experience <br />RECO NDATIQN: <br />I am recommending that the City Council award the contracts to the projects listed above. <br />sw/Rick/99 Green Sheet for Playground Equipment Structures Bid Awards.doc <br />
