AGENDA ITEM 51 <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Powell, City Engineer <br />DATE: June 8, 1999 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No 99-45, Approve Plans and Specifications and Authorize <br />Advertisement for Bids -1999 Wearing Course and Trail Paving Project. <br />VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City undertakes a paving project each year to place the final layer of bituminous, <br />known as the wearing course, in those developments where the majority of the lots <br />have been built on The funding for this work is provided by assessments to the <br />respective subdivisions. <br />In addition to the street wear course, the plans include trail paving utilizing Capital <br />Outlay and Dedicated Park Funds. The majority of this year's trail paving is proposed <br />to take place along Lilac Street near Behm's Century Farm; within Wenzel Farms; and <br />in Marshan Park. The final quantity of paving completed is dependent on bid prices as <br />the budget for paving is fixed. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Return to staff for further review. <br />2. Adopt Resolution Number 99-45, Approving the Plans and Specifications and <br />Authorizing Advertisement for Bids for the 1999 Wearing Course and Trail Paving <br />project. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Resolution No. 99-45 be adopted. <br />
