American Legion Post 566 has submitted an application that involves converting the
old Lino Lakes police station to a new Legion building.
The site currently is City - owned. In order for the project to proceed, the City must sell
the lot to the American Legion. Thus, the City is a party in the project. Because of this,
staff is making no recommendation and allowing the public process to determine the
decision.
The continued public hearing on the rezoning and conditional use permit was conducted
by the Planning & Zoning Board on July 14. The staff report for that meeting is attached,
with the following additional material: lighting diagram received July 13; landscape plan
received July 12.
At the July 14 P & Z meeting, a resident submitted a petition with the signatures of 83
residents opposing the project. A copy of the petition is attached.
A rezoning requires an ordinance, which requires two readings.
