AGENDA ITEM 5E <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: John Powell, City Engineer <br />DATE: August 2, 1999 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 99 - 57, Order Preparation of Plans, 77th Street Utility <br />Extension. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The property owner at 700/702 77d' Street requested City utility service instead of replacing <br />their two failing septic systems. City sanitary sewer and watermain was extended to the east <br />side of the Lake Drive/77th Street intersection as part of the Lake Drive Trunk Utility <br />improvement project. Lateral mains can be extended to the east along 77th Street to serve the <br />duplex at 700/702. At the July 7, 1999, City Council Work Session, preliminary construction <br />cost and assessment information was presented and discussed. The conclusion of the <br />discussion was that the project is feasible from both the construction and cost standpoints and <br />the utilities should be installed yet this year. <br />Proiect Schedule <br />The proposed schedule for the project is as follows: <br />Authorize Plans August 9, 1999 <br />Council Approves Plans August 23, 1999 <br />Council Authorizes Ad for Bids August 23, 1999 <br />Bid Opening September 7, 1999 <br />Council Awards Bid September 13, 1999 <br />Construction Begins September 20, 1999 <br />Substantial Completion October, 1999 <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Return to staff for further review. <br />2. Adopt Resolution Number 99 - 57 Ordering the Preparation of Plans for the 77" Street <br />Utility Extension project. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Resolution Number 99 - 57 be adopted. <br />
