AGENDA ITEM to
STAFF MEMBER Daniel Tesch, Director of Administration
DATE 30 August 1999
SUBJECT 1. 2000 NMT Commission Budget
2. 2000 Media Center Budget and PEG Fee increase
VOTE RE9UIRED Simyle Majority
BACKGROUND
1. Please find enclosed a copy of the 2000 North Metro Telecommunications
Commission (NMTC) and Media Center Budgets. As a member city of NMTV,
Lino Lakes is required to approve the operating budget of both the commission,
as well as the Media Center.
The Commission's budget is proposed to increase by approximately $14,000.00
in 2000. The increases reflects additional needs due to transfer or ownership, the
franchise renewal process and combating legislation that could harm local franchising
authority.
2. The 2000 budget for the Media Center is $594,482.00 of which $117,066.00 are
capital equipment expenditures. It is also recommended that the PEG (Public
Education Government) Access fee be increased from $2/month to $2.25 /month.
This increase will cover replacement costs of capital equipment.
OPTIONS
1. Approve the Commission Budget and Media Center Budget with a PEG Fee
increase from $2/month to $2.25 /month.
2. Return the 2000 budgets to the Commission for additional consideration. Theses
budgets are not approved until approved by all seven (7) member cities.
RECOMMENDATION
Number One'
