AGENDA ITEM NO. 8B <br />STAFF ORIG <br />DATE <br />TOPIC <br />BACKGROUND: <br />ATOR <br />Marilyn Anderson, Clerk- Treasurer <br />January 9, 1998 <br />Consideration of Application for Renewal of <br />Gambling License, Circle -Lex VFW Post #6583 <br />The Circle -Lex VFW Post #6583 was one of the first non-profit organizations to apply <br />for gambling license when the City implemented the Lawful Gambling Ordinance. <br />They have had a license continually since that time. The request before you is to renew <br />the gambling license that will expire on April 30, 1998. <br />The VFW has consistently provided the required information to me so that 1 can <br />determine that the organization is complying with the City Code. They donate $300.00 <br />per month to the City Dedicated Park Fund. These funds are used to replace worn -out <br />equipment and add new equipment. The VFW has been a good neighbor and has <br />provided support to other areas of the community such as schools within the Centennial <br />and Forest Lake School Districts. They also help local citizens who have experienced <br />financial difficulties. It is my recommendation to approve the renewal application for a <br />gambling license for theCircle-Lex VFW Post #6583. <br />OPTIONS: <br />Approve the application for renewal of the gambling license. <br />2. Return to staff for further information. <br />Do not approve the application. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Option No 1 <br />
