"Committed to customer satisfaction through service. leadership and involvement."
December 4, 1997
Rick DeGardner, Parks and Recreation Director
City of Lino Lakes
7204 Lake Drive
Lino Lakes, MN 55014
Re: AEC proposed tie line
Dear Mr. DeGardner,
Thank you for taking the time to meet with us today to discuss the proposed electrical tie
line. As we discussed, the load growth in the Otter Lake area and the existing single
source of service for that area has made it imperative that we extend an additional source
of service to the residents in that area.
I would like to highlight the following points from our meeting yesterday:
• The proposed connection will utilize underground cable installed via directional
boring equipment. That type of construction will have minimal impact on the
wetland and no equipment will be driven across the wetland.
• The route proposed was selected because it would create the least impact to both the
environment and the residents of the area. It was also selected as a lesser -cost option,
which is always important to our customer owners.
• AEC will acquire prior approval from the Department of Natural Resources and the
local Watershed District.
• AEC is requesting an easement from the City to protect our cable through the City
owned park area.
• AEC will work with the existing residential property owners affected by the
construction to gain access for the construction equipment and assure them that the
impact to their property will be minimal. Any damage incurred during the
construction will be repaired by AEC.
The best time to perform this work is during the winter months when the frozen ground
will help facilitate the construction and further minimize damage to the area. We will
share with you copies of all written correspondence that is sent to the residents. Prior to
construction, we will send you a copy of the final construction plan and the construction
schedule. I will make myself available for a City Council meeting to answer questions
and explain the project.
Page 1
14601 Ramsey Boulevard • Ramsey, Minnesota 55303 • Phone: 612.323.2600 • MN Wats: 1.800.642.1672
