AGENDA ITEM 4.B2
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Brian Wessel
DATE: 3/23/98
TOPIC: Consideration of Resolution No. 98-45, supporting
the Land Exchange with Anoka County
BACKGROUND:,
This resolution summarizes the history of the land exchange with Anoka County.
It includes a review of the revisions in acreage agreed to as part of the
negotiations with the Metropolitan Parks and Open Space Commission, plus the
initial agreement to place all land not impacted by construction into a perpetual
conservation easement. As a part of the final agreement it was determined that
nine acres of excess land (4.5 wetland/4.5 upland) would remain in the regional
park. This returns control of the land to the County and will be included in its
Comprehensive Park Plan and trail construction program. Consequently, Anoka
County will convey to the City of Lino Lakes 14.72 acres of upland from the park
reserve for public purposes.
This resolution acknowledges the City's role in preserving the environmental
character of the site and providing a controlled access to the regional park. It
asks the County to recognize the City's part in improving the park system and to
pursue improvement of the trail system, including a Grand Round around
Marshan Lake.
OPTIONS:
1. Adopt Resolution No. 98-45
2. Return to staff for further consideration.
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Option 1
