AGENDA ITEM 7D
STAFF ORIGINATOR: David Ahrens, City Engineer /Public Works Director
DATE: April 13, 1998
TOPIC: Resolution 98 -51, Establish Policy on Utility Rates for Properties
Outside of City Boundaries
BACKGROUND:
Staff and Council previously discussed establishing a policy on utility rates
charged to properties outside of the City's corporate boundaries. This policy is
necessary as the City's utility system continues to expand to the point where
properties outside of Lino Lakes boundaries will request Lino Lakes utility
service. The policy will establish the proper procedures and utility charges for
staff and the requesting property to follow in responding to a request to connect
to the utility system.
OPTIONS:
1. Return to staff for additional review.
2. Not adopt Resolution No. 98 -51.
3. Adopt Resolution No. 98 -51 with revisions.
4. Adopt Resolution No. 98 -51 as proposed by staff.
RECOMMENDATION:
Based on discussions with Council, the proposed policy reflects concerns and
issues raised by Council at the March 18, 1998 worksession. Therefore, staff is
recommending that Council adopt Resolution No 98 -51 establishing a policy for
utility rates to properties outside of city boundaries.
