AGENDA ITEM 6A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: David Ahrens, Public Works Director /City Engineer <br />DATE: April 22, 1998 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 98 -55, Award Construction Contract - Ware Road Street <br />and Utility Construction <br />INTRODUCTION: <br />Sealed bids were received and opened on Tuesday April 7, 1998 for the Ware Road <br />Street and Utility construction project. City Council action is required to award the <br />construction contract. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City Council ordered the improvement for the Ware Road Street and Utility <br />construction project at the February 23, 1998 Council Meeting. On April 7, 1998, five <br />sealed bids were received and opened with the following results: <br />Company Bid Amount <br />S. R. Weidema, Inc. <br />Richard Knutson <br />Arnt Construction <br />Barbarossa & Sons <br />Northdale Construction <br />Engineer's Estimate <br />$ 1,420,498.13 <br />$ 1,447,207.84 <br />$ 1,471,754.55 <br />$ 1,511,672.64 <br />$ 1,511,933.56 <br />$ 1,485,390.70 <br />The bid by S. R. Weidema, Inc. is approximately 5% below the engineer's estimate. <br />FINANCING SUMMARY: <br />The .construction costs for this project will be paid by sanitary sewer, water and storm <br />sewer utility funds, MSAS funds and a special assessment to Miller's South Glen. <br />
