AGENDA ITEM NO .10 - I
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Rick DeGardner, Parks and Recreation Director
DATE: July 7, 1998
TOPIC: Authorization to Expend Park Deciation Funds
for Improvements to Rice Lake Estates Park
BACKGROUND:
At the July 6, 1998 Park Board meeting the following amenities
were approved for Rice Lake Estates Park. The estimated costs
are indicated in parentheses.
Site clearing and grading
Playground equipment
Border, pea gravel, and accessibility path for
playground area
Half court basketball court
($ 5,000)
($24,800)
($ 5,000)
($ 9,000)
The trail leading to Baldwin Park was included in the 1998 Park
Board Goals. The estimated cost of completion of this trail is
$17,000 and should be completed sometime in August.
RECNDATION
It is my recommendation that City Council authorize the
expenditure of approximately $40,000 of Park Dedication Funds
for the listed improvements. City Council has already approved
funds for the installation of the trail segment. There is
$42,700 in the Park Dedication Fund that is designated for Rice
Lake Estates Park, (including trail). This would require an
additional amount of approximately $18,100 of undesignated
funds.
sw /rick /Authorization to Expend Park Dedication Funds for Rice Lake Estates Park.doc
