POLICY: Employee Assistance Program
APPROVED: Lino Lakes City Council
EFFECTIVE/
ADOPTED DATE: 13 July 1998
LOCATION: Personnel Policy - Section 5.08
APPLICABILITY: All City Employees
5.08 Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Understanding that an employee's personal life may affect job performance, the
city has contracted with an insurance provider to offer an Employee Assistance Program.
This program is available to all full and part-time employees, as well as their family
members, and is designed to offer assistance on a wide array of issues. A few examples
would be: family and marital problems, emotional strains, substance abuse, work stresses,
financial or legal matters.
Individuals can call a toll -free number, 24 hours a day, any day of the year, and
speak with a professional, master's -level counselor who will assess the problem and help
formulate ideas on resolution. In- person assessments may also be scheduled for the
employee or family member at no additional cost. Counseling staff members ensure that
each participant is following his or her action plan, and receiving the most appropriate
and cost effective assistance.
The EAP will also work with the city's wellness program to provide periodic
training and seminars on a wide variety of topical issues.
