MEMORANDUM
DATE: July 22, 1998
TO: Mayor Kim Sullivan
Councilmember Chris Lyden
Councilmember John Bergeson
Councilmember Any Neal
Councilmember Caroline Dahl
Dave Pecchia, Interim City Administrator
FROM: Pete Kluegel, Building Official
RE: Second Quarter Building Permit
A total of 431 building permits were issued through June 30, 1998. Total construction
valuation was $22,605,384. This compares with the second quarter of 1997 when 294
total permits were issued, with a valuation of $13,407488. Through June 30, 1998 115
new Single Family home permits have been issued. This total includes 32 townhomes
and 3 mobile homes. This compares with 74 new homes in the first half of 1997. A
difference of 41. The majority of the residential activity has been in Behm's Century
Farms, Clearwater Creek and Millers South Glen subdivisions. Five building permits
were issued in the Institutional sector in the second quarter of 1998. These include
footings and foundation for the Civic Complex ($400,000) Anoka County Parks
Chomonix for a fence ($9,800) Anoka County Park building (2,500), Minnesota
Correctional Facility addition ($200,000), Prison roof ($172, 300) for a total construction
cost of $784,600. Five commercial permits consisted of the Lino Lakes Bank ($754,943)
Simonson Liquor remodel and Signs for Fairview Clinic, Fina Market and Reason
Computer were issued for a total value of $777,683. Electrical contract permits
generated $4,118 of revenue to date. Six septic system repairs were made in the second
quarter. The C -Store project on 21st Avenue is almost ready for occupancy. Moline
concrete will be starting on their office building and the Lakeland National Bank is under
construction. I foresee 1998 exceeding the previous year in construction valuation and
permit activity.
1189 Main Street • Lino Lakes, Minnesota • 55014
Phone/TDD: 651 -464 -5562 • Fax: 651 -464 -4568
