AGENDA ITEM 6C <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR; Brian Wessel <br />DATE: 7/27/98 <br />TOPIC: Consideration of Resolution No 98 -114, Accept Bids <br />and Award Contracts for Bid Package No 2, Civic <br />Complex <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Bid Package No 1 for the Lino Lakes Civic Complex includes all the construction <br />contracts for structural steel (erection only), asphalt paving, concrete and <br />masonry, miscellaneous metals (material only), casework, general construction, <br />roofing, aluminum windows and doors, drywall, tilework, acoustical ceilings/wall <br />panels, flooring, painting, metal lockers, partitions, mechanical, electrical and fire <br />protection. As you recall, Adolfson & Peterson (A &P), the construction manager, <br />separated the bid packages in response to the Early Childhood Center's <br />occupancy deadline. The first bid package Adolfson & Peterson supervised the <br />opening of the bids on Tuesday, July 21, 1998 at 2 p.m. at city hall. <br />The apparent lowest responsible bidders for Bid Package No 2 are listed in your <br />packet. The construction total of $6 million has been guaranteed. A &P will <br />complete additional value engineering of electrical and mechanical to ensure the <br />budget does not exceed $6 million. A list of alternates has also been developed <br />to ensure the project remains within budget. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Adopt Resolution No. 98 -114 accepting the bids and awarding the contracts <br />for Bid Package No 2, Civic Complex <br />2, Receive the bids but delay the contract award pending further review by city <br />staff and Adolfson & Peterson <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Option 1 <br />
