AGENDA ITEM 7B <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: David Ahrens, City Engineer/Public Works Director <br />DATE: July 27, 1998 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 98 -116, Approve Plans and Specifications and <br />Order Advertisement for Bids, 21° Avenue Lift Station <br />BACKGROUND: <br />As part of the 21° Avenue Street and Utility Improvement Project a sanitary <br />sewer lift station is required to complete sanitary sewer service to the Clearwater <br />Creek Business Center plat and undeveloped land in the area. The plans and <br />specifications for the lift station are complete and staff is requesting Council <br />approval of the plans and to order the advertisement of bids. <br />The lift station design is designed for ultimate build -out of the sanitary sewer <br />service area The lift station will include the necessary controls and monitoring <br />equipment to be included on the City's telemetry system. The telemetry system <br />monitors various possible alarm situations and will notify staff of pump failures or <br />sewage high level. <br />Project Schedule <br />Approve Plans and Specifications <br />Open Bids <br />Award Construction Contract <br />Start Construction <br />July 27, 1998 <br />August 19, 1998 <br />August 24, 1998 <br />September 7, 1 998 <br />Construction Substantially Complete October 23, 1998 <br />The estimated construction cost is $240,000. It is proposed that the project be <br />funded by the City's Area and Unit Fund. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Return to staff for further review. <br />2. Adopt Resolution No 98 -116 approving the plans and specifications and <br />ordering the advertisement for for the 21`` Avenue Lift Station Project. <br />3. Not adopt Resolution No. 98 -116. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Resolution 98 -116 be adopted by Council. <br />
