Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation
Department
7204 Lake Drive
Lino Lakes, MN 55014
(651) 780 -1885 Fax (651) 784 -7227
August 4, 1998
TO: Mayor Kim Sullivan and City Council Members
FROM: Rick De Gardner, Parks and Recreation Director
SUBJECT: Reshanau Trail Update
On July 29, 1998 I met with the Reshanau Lake Association Board Members Tom Shaefer, Mary
Cox, and Mark Walmsley. There were also six association members present. The association
has recently entered into an agreement with the property owners at the end of Black Duck Drive.
This contract allows access from association members to Outlots A and B which are currently
owned by the association. The contract does not allow public access. In return, the association
has agreed to erect a fence to eliminate access from non - association members. This agreement
has already been executed and is in effect through perpetuity.
I am requesting authorization to contact the two property owners where this limited access
easement exists. I can indicate to the property owners the city's interest in providing public
access to allow all residents to walk around Reshanau Lake. This will help identify any concerns
the property owners have and allow staff to attempt to rectify these concerns in hope of
eventually providing a public trail easement over their property.
sw /rick/Reshanau Trail Update to Mayor & Council.doc
