AGENDA ITEM NO, 7D
STAFF ORIGINATOR Marilyn Anderson, Clerk - Treasurer
DATE July 30, 1998
TOPIC
BACKGROUND:
Consideration of Appointing Election Judges for the
1998 State Primary and General Elections
Attached is a list of Election Judges who will be trained to carry out the 1998 State
Primary to be held September 15th and the General Election to be held. November 3rd. If
this list is approved by the City Council, I will, with the help of my Chief Judge,
determine in which precinct each Judge will be working. We must carefully consider a
balance of Democratic and Republican Election Judges and also try to schedule each
Judge to work in the precinct in which they live. Judges may represent the Reform Party,
however, I am not required to schedule equal numbers of Reform Party Election Judges.
I am in the process of determining how many of the listed Election Judges are available to
work this fall. Hopefully, I can draw enough Election Judges from this list to adequately
staff the four (4) voting precincts. In the event that I cannot recruit enough Election
Judges, I will return to Council with a request for appointment of additional Election
Judges.
I am requesting that you approve the attached list of prospective Election Judges.
OPTIONS:
1. Adopt a motion approving the list of Election Judges.
2. Return to staff for further information.
RECOMMENDATION
Option No 1
