9. The trail system will be divided into A priority and B priority. They will be cleared
as follows:
Following a snow fall of 2 inches or more all of the A priority paths will be cleared
of snow. Upon completion of all A paths being cleared the B priority paths will
begin to be cleared. If, at anytime during the clearing of B priority, additional snow
should fall exceeding the 2 inch limit, clearing of B priority paths will be ceased
and the A priority paths will be cleared.
The trail priority designations will be reviewed annually. This policy is subject to
change upon conditions. There are some trail segments within the city that are
not listed under A priority or B priority. These trail segments will not be maintained
during the winter months.
NOTES
Currently the underpass near Rice Lake Elementary School (under Birch Street)
is salted and sanded when conditions warrant. This is the only trail segment
where chemicals are applied.
Trail segments that have boardwalk are not scheduled to be plowed. This
includes internal trails in Brandywood Park, Quail Ridge Park, and a trail
segment near Marshan Park.
RD/Trails /Snowclearing Policy
7/28/98
