ge-
AGENDA ITEM NO. gifil
STAFF ORIGINATOR Marilyn Anderson, Clerk- Treasurer
DATE August 19, 1998
TOPIC Consideration of an Application for a Block Party,
Oakwood Lane
BACKGROUND:
A block party is planned on Glen Circle September 19, 1998 starting at 3:00 p.m. and
ending at 10 :00 p.m. The attached map shows the location of the party and the property
owners shown with slant marks have signed the petition acknowledging they were
notified about the party. The Woodridge Estates area has held a block party every year
since the neighborhood was developed.
Both the Police Department and the Public Works Department have been given
information on the party. The Public Works Department will provide barricades for
blocking the cul-de -sac. The Police Officer assigned to this precinct will probably visit
the party.
In the past, the City Council has encouraged these parties as it presents an opportunity for
neighbors to get acquainted with one another. These parties also create the opportunity to
form a neighborhood crime watch unit.
I am requesting approval of this block party.
OPTIONS:
1. Adopt a motion approving the block party.
2. Return to staff for further information.
RECOMMENDATION
Option No. 1
