Lynn & George Fernstrom
6340 Red Maple Lane
Lino Lakes, MN 55014
(651) 483 -6198
November 23, 1998
Dear Council Members:
This letter is our request to you to re -think the development of the project: WEST
SHADOW PONDS. As we are unable to attend the meeting this evening, this would be
our proverbial "$ .02 worth ".
We have had the pleasure of living in Lino Lakes for the past 15 years and fully
recognize that growth is part of the changing landscape for this community. We would
also like to recognize and commend Mr. Carlson on the larger lot sizes for this
development, something that we believe could be a complement to the city. What we
take issue with is the addition of 22 more homes feeding into a roadway system that is
already faulty. The street known as 62nd street is a road, which barely accommodates the
limited traffic it already takes on a daily basis. To rebuild this road to satisfy us and the
addition of 22 homes will cost the city a good sum of change. At a time when there is
already rampant development and surely roads which are in need of repair, perhaps, the
city should take this opportunity to vote "no" to this new development, and upgrade the
roads first before extra loads are placed on them. As representatives of the people, please
take the time to hear those of us who are already living in Lino Lakes, and not necessarily
those who may live here, nor the needs of one developer. Drive down 62nd and actually
feel and see what that road is and what it may become. South Miller Glen is not done
developing yet, do not add to the misery, which is 62nd street. It isn't, nor was it, ever
designed to handle increased traffic. We are all acutely aware of the issues that arose
from Ware road. We are asking that this be given more time and thought by the council.
Our request would be the following: #1. Vote no on this new development. #2. Choice
would be that if the development must go through, that West Shadow Lake extension end
in a cul -de -sac with the potential to be connected to 62nd in the future. (This allows 62nd
some time to heal /develop as need be).
We understand that Lino Lakes is a community caught in the pains of developing. As
such, please take the time to ensure that it develops into something to be proud of, not
simply to develop "just because ". We thank -you for your time and consideration in this
matter.
Respectfully submitted,
