AGENDA ITEM 5 E
STAFF ORIGINATOR Brian Wessel
DATE: 11/20198
TOPIC: Comprehensive Plan Submittal to Metropolitan Council
BACKGROUND:
Communities within the Seven County Metro Area have been mandat 1, by
State Legislation, to submit an updated comprehensive plan to the Metropolitan
Council by year end. The Comprehensive Plan Task Force approved the Lino
Lakes Comprehensive Plan on a 12-0 vote, the Lino Lakes Planning and Zoning
Board approved the plan on a 6-1 vote. Staff would recommend submittal to the
Metropolitan Council of the Draft Comprehensive Land Use Plan for the City of
Lino Lakes. This plan will then be reviewed by Met Council staff, the review may
include recommendation for approval or suggested changes/revisions to the
plan. Upon completion of the Met Council review, the City Council will be asked
to adopt a final Plan. This will most likely occur in the first quarter of 1998.
For Council information, the City's submittal to the Met Council must include a
land use plan, transportation plan, and sewer and water utility plans. The
transportation plan is complete and will be forwarded to the Met Council as a
part of the Comprehensive Plan submittal. The sewer and water utility plans are
being drafted based on the land use information provided in the draft land use
plan and will be submitted to Met Council upon their completion.
OPTIONS.
1. Motion to submit the Draft Comprehensive Land Use Flair to the Metropolitan
Council for their review and approval.
2. Return to staff for further consideration.
