NOO -20 98 15:06 FROM:
Brian Wessel
November 19, 1998
Page 2
TO:612 464 4568 PAGE:03 /03
In Lino Lakes' situation, unless otherwise provided by charter, it would appear that 2/3' of the
city council would need to vote affirmatively to adopt the plan and send it on to the Council under
this option.
The Council has reviewed plans submitted by local governing bodies under both of the options
discussed above. Regardless of the option chosen, Metropolitan Council review and comment on
the local comprehensive plan, plan update or plan amendment is necessary before the city can
implement its plan.
This letter is intended to suggest possible options for the city in for submitting its comprehensive
plan to the Council for review. It is not intended to convey a legal opinion -on the matter. You
should consult with your city attorney with respect to the city's charter requirements and the
applicability of the options to Lino Lakes, or ask for an opinion on the matter from the Attorney
General. If you have any further questions, please contact Guy Peterson, your sector
representative in the Office of Local Assistance at 651 - 602 -1418.
Sincere
Thomas C. c vecn
Director of Housing and Local Assistance
c: James Wychor, Metropolitan Council District 9
Jeanne Matross, Associate General Counsel
Richard E.
