O' Donnell <br />Council Member introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />COUNTY OF ANOKA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 09-01 <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CREATION OF A NEW CONVENTION AND VISITOR'S <br />BUREAU <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 469.190, Local Lodging Tax, allows cities to impose by ordinance <br />a lodging tax of up to three percent on the gross receipts of lodging within the city; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Hotels within certain cities in the northeast metro area are proposing to create a <br />Convention and Visitor's Bureau by January 2010 to benefit the hotels and <br />businesses in Lino Lakes and the northeast metro area; and <br />WHEREAS, The two hotels in Lino Lakes have requested support from the City Council of the <br />City of Lino Lakes to impose a Lodging Tax and act as administrator of the tax when <br />the Convention and Visitor's Bureau is formed. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Lino Lakes, Anoka <br />County, Minnesota: <br />1) Supports the participation of hotels in Lino Lakes in a newly created Convention and <br />Visitor's Bureau. <br />2) As such time as appropriate upon creation of the Bureau and at the request of the <br />hotels in Lino Lakes, directs staff to introduce an ordinance for consideration to <br />impose a Lodging Tax within the city. <br />ne Bartell, City C rk <br />,/, <br />rohn J.
