Council Member <br />its adoption: <br />r OlDonne11 <br />introduced the following resolution and moved <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />COUNTY OF ANOKA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 09 -19 <br />RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO ANY EXPANSION <br />OF THE ANOKA COUNTY - BLAINE AIRPORT <br />WHEREAS, Anoka County - Blaine Airport is classified as a minor airport by the <br />Metropolitan Airports Commission; and <br />WHEREAS, a minor airport's system role is to provide facilities and services <br />primarily to personal, business and instructional users; and <br />WHEREAS, a minor airport's maximum runway length is 5,000 feet; and <br />WHEREAS, expansion of - - _• - . s unway to 6,000 feet would necessitate <br />changes in state law; and <br />WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council has provided an Airport Development <br />Guide that is required to take into consideration the physical, social and economic <br />needs of the Metropolitan area and as a result of those considerations, the Airport <br />Development Guide plan calls for the Anoka County- Blaine Airport to be a minor airport; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, significant airport enhancements have already been made for the <br />safety of aircraft that use minor airports, including an instrument landing system and an <br />operational control tower; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Lino <br />Lakes, Anoka County, Minnesota as follows: <br />The City Council will take appropriate steps to oppose any legislative attempts to <br />expand t - unway at the Anoka County - Blaine Airport. <br />ATTEST: <br />artell, City <br />J.
