Studenski, City Engineer <br />COUNCIL MEETING DATE: April 27, 2009 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 09 -24, Accepting Bids and <br />Awarding a Construction Contract, <br />2009 Street Sealcoating Project <br />Vote Required: Simple Majority <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Sealed bids were received and publicly opened at 11:00 a.m. on April 15, 2009. The <br />results of the bid opening are presented below. City Council action is required to award a <br />construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder. <br />Contractor Amount of Bid <br />Allied Blacktop Co. $ 135,700.00 <br />Pearson Bros., Inc $ 156,860.00 <br />Engineer's Estimate $ 155,020.00 <br />The low bids are competitive bids for this project. The prices are comparable to last <br />year's bids. Allied Blacktop Co. and Pearson Bros., Inc. have both performed the <br />sealcoating projects for many years in Lino Lakes. A copy of the complete bid tabulation <br />is attached. <br />The final completion date for this project is September 15, 2009. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Resolution No. 09 — 24 Accepting Bids and Awarding a <br />Construction Contract for the 2009 Street Sealcoating Project be adopted. <br />
