Studenski, City Engineer <br />July 26, 2010 <br />Resolution No. 10 -66, Accepting Plans and <br />Specifications and Authorizing a Request for <br />Quotes, 2010 Surface Water Management <br />Project. <br />Simple Majority <br />After storm sewer, storm water ponds and drainage ways are constructed, they <br />require periodic maintenance to ensure their effectiveness. To maintain the <br />effectiveness of the storm sewer system, cleaning of pipe sections, catch basins, <br />manholes and flared ends where silt has accumulated must be completed. <br />The City conducted its yearly review of 20% of the City's MS4 outfalls, sediment <br />basins, storm sewers, and ponds to comply with NPDES requirements. <br />The 2010 Surface Water Management project will consist of the following types <br />of work: <br />1) Surface water maintenance, including pond and pipe repairs and the <br />cleaning of pipe sections, catch basins, manholes and flared ends. <br />2) Street drainage improvements, including storm sewer reconstruction <br />and curb and paving replacement. <br />The projects were identified by this year's NPDES review of storm sewers, public <br />works identified projects, and through resident concerns as shown on the <br />attached maps. Quotes will be solicited separately for the surface water <br />maintenance and the street drainage improvements. <br />The project schedule is as follows: <br />City Council Accepts Plans and Specifications July 26, 2010 <br />City Council Request for Quotes July 26, 2010 <br />City Council Awards Contract August 23, 2010 <br />Construction Begins September, 2010 <br />City staff has prepared the plans and specifications for this work and is <br />requesting Council approval to make a request for quotes. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Resolution No. 10 -66 be adopted. <br />
