• Council Member Reinert • introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF LINO LAKES RESOLUTION NO. 08 -31 RESOLUTION TO ADOPT THE ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD GOALS FOR 2008 WHEREAS, The City of Lino Lakes has an established Environmental Board, AND WHEREAS, ; The purpose of the Environmental Board is to provide aid and advice to the council in its efforts to encourage productive and enjoyable harmony between people and their environment ; to promote efforts which will prevent or eliminate damage to the environment and stimulate the health and welfare of people; to enrich the understanding of ecological systems and natural resources important to the city; to advise the City in the use and management of its natural resources in order to preserve and enhance the environmental amenities for present and future residents, and to ensure a lasting quality of life within the city, AND WHEREAS: The Environmental Board approved the following 2008 goals at their February 28, 2008 meeting: • Promote environmental stewardship with the citizens of Lino Lakes by: A. Communicating environmental initiatives in the city using various means of communication, i.e., City WebPages, newsletter, homeowner's association meetings, the information kiosk, and press coverage. Pursue providing articles and information to the local media. Inform the Citizens of Lino Lakes about the National Wildlife Federation opportunities for involvement in Backyard Wildlife habitat. • Participate in Blue Heron Days, providing educational material to the public. • Participate in Earth Day activities in the community, promoting environmental awareness and collaboration with other environmental focused organizations. • Monitor all activity in the 35E and 35W corridor as well as other proposed development areas, focusing on the values Lino Lakes citizens have expressed in the vision for our city and the unique ecological aspects of our wetlands, lakes and streams and subsurface waters. Apply mitigation plan as defined for that area.
