The <br />information requests that were received and staff responses are noted below: <br />Update on status of MGM liquor store <br />Although the city has received no official notice of the closing of the MGM <br />Wine & Spirits store at 709 Apollo Drive, the store is virtually empty and there <br />is an eviction notice posted on the door. An application for renewal was sent to <br />the license holder, Brownstone Liquors, with no response received to date. <br />How many liquor stores are actually within one mile <br />There are currently six active off sale liquor licenses (not included MGM), and <br />two off sale 3.2 (beer) licenses, as indicated on the attached map. <br />What other communities in the area have 1 mile restriction? <br />A survey of surrounding communities provided the following information regarding <br />their regulations on off -sale licenses: <br />Blaine (pop. 54,927), 1 license per 7,000; only one license allowed within one - <br />mile radius; <br />New Brighton (pop. 22,325), 1 license per 5,000; only one license allowed within <br />one mile radius; <br />Shoreview (pop. 26,093), 1 license per 5,000; no restriction based on proximity to <br />other stores; <br />
