• <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: <br />MEETING DATE: <br />TOPIC: <br />VOTE REQUIRED: <br />BACKGROUND: <br />AGENDA ITEM 1 D <br />Julie Bartell, City Clerk <br />June 23, 2008 <br />Consider Adoption of Resolution No. 08 -64, <br />Approving renewal of a Premises Permit for <br />the Lino Lake Lions to conduct charitable <br />gambling at American Legion Post #566 <br />Simple Majority (3/5 Vote Required) <br />An application for renewal of a lawful gambling Premises Permit has been <br />submitted by Richard Schumacher of the Lino Lake Lions. The application <br />requests that the Lino Lake Lions organization be permitted to continue to <br />conduct charitable gambling at American Legion Post #566 located at 7731 Lake <br />Drive. The renewal period for a Premises Permit is two years, per state <br />guidelines. <br />The city has conducted a background investigation relative to this application and <br />found no information on the principal applicants that would give reason to deny <br />the application. <br />Minnesota Lawful Gambling law requires that the local unit of government <br />approve applications for premises permit before they are submitted to the <br />Gambling Control Board for final consideration. Therefore, the City Council is <br />being asked to consider approval of a resolution approving the application <br />submitted by the Lions. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Approve Resolution No. 08 -64 approving renewal of a premises permit for <br />Lino Lake Lions to conduct charitable gambling at American Legion <br />Post #566 <br />2.
